1677 Du Val Engravings - Holande, Hongrie, Escosse
Pierre Du Val was a nephew and pupil of the greatest of all French cartographers, Nicolas Sanson, and went on to become the Royal Geographer. He published many atlases in all sizes but one of his great achievements was the two volume 'Geographie Universelle', first published in 1660, these charming little maps are very distinctive.
These attractive engravings are three of the series relating to coats of arms of regions around the world which accompanied the maps in 'Geographiae Universalis' from the 1681 French edition published by Du Val in Paris. Colouring instructions are clearly shown in German.
The engravings each measure 4.5" by 2.5" have wash hand colouring and are in good condition.
The engravings are guaranteed to be over 330 years old.
